Follifoot Park Riding Centre runs three types of summer holiday riding camp. They are organised by experience level into Advanced Camp, Intermediate Camp and Mini Camp. Depending on demand, the Mini Camp may take place multiple times during the school summer holiday period.
All the summer holiday riding camps have the same structure, no matter the experience level of the rider. The days are spent riding, practicing stable management, and enjoying fun challenges and quizzes. During the evenings we watch demonstrations and play games.
Please note that these are not residential camps. However, there is always a great camp atmosphere! Everyone taking part eats lunch and dinner together and there is time for talking and relaxing as well as the many activities.
If you’re an experienced rider, aged 12 and up, and fancy a bit of a challenge this summer, our advanced riding camp near Harrogate is just the thing! Over three action-packed days, you’ll be diving into dressage, show jumping, and cross country. Plus, we’ll head out on some lovely hacks, enjoy expert talks, and watch some exciting demonstrations. To top it all off, on the last day, there’s a bit of friendly competition – so bring your A-game!
We do ask that you’re comfortable jumping at least 60cm and have a bit of experience galloping across open fields, especially when we’re doing the cross country bits. Also, make sure to bring your body protectors. We prioritise safety first at all times.
One night, we’ll be treating ourselves to a takeaway, so please bring sufficient money for that. And, of course, pack yourself a good lunch for each day; you’ll be working up an appetite!
So, if you’re looking for a summer holiday riding camp near Harrogate that’ll push your riding to the next level, this is the one for you.
Not yet at the Advanced Rider level? Then our Intermediate Camp is just the ticket! It’s three exciting days for riders aged 9 and up, who can canter in the arena and pop over a small jump. You’ll be spending your days riding, and learning all about stable management. That means mucking out, feeding, grooming, and of course, giving your pony plenty of pampering.
Evenings are all about winding down – expect to watch some fun demonstrations and enjoy games with your camp mates. On the final day, it’s “Show Day”! Time to put all your hard work into action and compete for some special rosettes.
One of the nights, we’ll be having a takeaway treat, so don’t forget to bring some money to cover that. And of course, pack a good lunch for each day – you’ll need the energy!

Our Mini Camp is the perfect summer holiday riding camp for kids aged 7 and up who are just starting out or learning to canter. Over two fun-filled days, your little ones will enjoy two rides a day, plus all sorts of exciting activities. They’ll get to have a go on Stan the mechanical horse and Storm the dressage simulator, try carefully-supervised bareback riding, and learn about stable management too!
The second day is mini show day. The kids can get creative, dress up, and even decorate their ponies. It’s all about showing off their artistic flair and having a laugh while competing for those colourful rosettes!
Make sure to pack a good lunch for both days, as they’ll need plenty of energy for all the fun we’ve got planned.
