Meet Our Mechanical Horse Simulators

Meet our three mechanical horse simulators: Stan, Storm, and Racing Ron

Mechanical horse simulators improve your skills as a rider no matter what level you are, including advanced riders! Trainers use them for improving strength, flexibility, and balance from beginner level onwards. Established riders find adding time on a horse simulator to their practice regime enables them to fine-tune their techniques for an extra edge in competitions, or simply a closer bond with real horses.

What’s more, mechanical horse simulators offer significant benefits for disabled, nervous, or inexperienced riders. They can get to know the movements of a horse in a stable and controlled environment. This improves riding confidence and enables them to safely practice different techniques. It’s all the fun of a live horse, without the risk of unpredictability!

Nervous riders gain confidence as simulators offer a consistent and gentle experience, helping to ease anxiety and build trust. Young or inexperienced riders benefit from the ability to practice basic skills and movements at their own pace. A mechanical horse simulator is the most patient and predictable horse you’ll ever ride. Practise makes the transition to riding a live horse easier and more comfortable.

At Follifoot Park we have three mechanical horse simulators – meet Stan, Storm, and Racing Ron! They feature in many of our riding activities and special event options. If you are a trainer or a client wishing to hire a horse simulator, you can easily arrange this with us via the contact form or by calling the office.

Stan the Mechanical Horse

Stan was the first mechanical horse simulator at Follifoot Park Riding Centre. He was an immediate hit with all our riders, and opened up the activity of riding to many more people than real horses alone can offer. In 2010 he was moved into the Stouse. This building was purpose-built by Follifoot Park owners Julie and Chris Pedley for the horse simulator. The name Stouse was chosen as it is short for ‘Stan’s House’.

After a good many years of loyal service, Stan was ‘put out to pasture’ in our Lecture Room where he still gets a workout as part of our options for children’s parties.

Stan was replaced in the Stouse by Storm.

Storm the Riding and Dressage Simulator

Meet Storm, our amazing mechanical horse simulator designed with inclusivity in mind. Storm is more than just a training aid. He’s a remarkable innovation that supports riders of all abilities, including those with disabilities.

Storm’s advanced design faithfully replicates the movements of a real horse, providing a stable and controlled environment ideal for riders who may need extra support. This sophisticated horse simulator from Racewood Equestrian Simulators has many adjustable settings. Storm caters to a range of needs, allowing riders to practice various gaits and movements at their own pace. This eliminates the unpredictability of live horses. And no matter what the weather, it offers a secure and consistent experience.

A mechanical horse simulator designed for dressage

As Storm is linked to a screen, he has the ability to provide gentle, consistent visual feedback. This is particularly beneficial for riders who might face challenges with balance or coordination. The mechanical horse’s design helps build confidence and refine skills in a safe, supportive setting. Riders can focus on their technique and progress without concern.

Storm simulates the movement of a real horse with remarkable accuracy. The adjustable settings allow riders to practice various dressage movements, from basic to advanced levels, ensuring that you can tailor your training to your specific needs.

One of Storm’s best features is its ability to replicate the feel of different gaits. Balance is essential for mastering dressage techniques, and Storm helps riders do just that.

Moreover, Storm allows for year-round training, unaffected by weather conditions or physical limitations. It offers an opportunity for disabled riders to enjoy the therapeutic and recreational benefits of horse-riding in an adaptable, safe environment.

Racing Ron the Horse Racing Simulator

Storm shares the Stouse with Racing Ron, our Racing Simulator from Racewood Equestrian Simulators. Racing Ron is a training aid for jockeys and other riders who want to improve their technique for the fastest horse rides.
