We have regular show jumping and dressage competitions running throughout the year. These are unaffiliated events which we take pride in organising for riders of all abilities.
Our aim is to make the competitions fun and friendly in an environment that is not intimidating. Riders of all ages are welcome with encouraging support provided to all riders.
You can hire a horse from us to ride in our competitions. We welcome riders on their own horses as well as clients competing on riding school horses.
Take part in a form of riding competition that dates back to the 16th century! At each Dressage Competition at Follifoot Park there are classes for Introductory (walk and trot tests), Preliminary, and Novice. Rosettes are awarded for each competition.
We regularly hold Dressage Riding Clinics to prepare for the next competition. This is a perfect opportunity to have a good run through of your tests that you are riding at the next Dressage Competition.
After you have completed your tests we will give feedback and will work through any corrections that are needed to help you improve. We will try to book the horse you are riding in the competition if it is possible.
If you have never done the dressage competition but want to have a go, this is the best place to start! Do you want to practice your dressage skills on a horse that never gets tired? Ask us about Storm, the mechanical horse dressage simulator.
Showjumping starts with Clear Round, followed by 45cm, 55cms,65cms,75cms, 85cms. Horses and ponies are available to hire in order to compete, and it’s a chance for riders to win fabulous rosettes.
There is a Points League for our Dressage and Showjumping Competitions which runs from January to December. We have an Open Section for those competing on their own horses and a Centre Section for clients on riding school horses. The Open Section is for each horse and rider combination. The Centre Section is for each rider competing on any of the riding school horses.
Points are awarded on the following basis:
These points are awarded if there are 6 or more entries in the class.
1 point for each class entered.
Trophies, medals and sashes are awarded to the league winners and runners up in December at the final competition.
